Ice&Geomatics Engineer
Job Purpose:
Advises and reports offshore management and other operationally involved parties onshore and offshore about the ice conditions and any risks posed by ice to offshore installations and operations in the North Caspian Sea, whilst on rotation at offshore drilling platforms in winter.
The important part of this position is to share the knowledge and experience with the Ice & Metocean Analysts offshore.
Responsibilities:
- Recording and forecasting ice conditions and movements at drilling locations in accordance with the published procedures,
- Advising on the effects of such movements and on measures to mitigate the risks,
- Advising on ice alert status and appropriate evacuation routes in ice,
- Participating in field ice measurement programs as required,
- Analyzing ice and other environmental data to provide advice relevant to the design and execution of projects
- Conduct helicopter ice reconnaissance ice survey in order to document ice conditions from the helicopter
- Collecting data and providing reports using the tools specified in the agreed procedure to ensure that information on the ice conditions and in particular the ice events around the rig are monitored and logged in a professional manner.
- Working closely with the Ice Engineer and Ice Charting team to fully document the ice conditions around the offshore structures and ensure that the information is available in a suitable format for the Ice database.
- Acting as an interface between the Ice Charting team and the vessels operating within the NE Caspian and pass on appropriate information from the Ice Charting team to the vessels on the ice conditions they may encounter on their passage.
Skills:
- Degree in a related engineering subject.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ice engineering, or related arctic experience.
- Must have data collection and analysis experience (preferably in the oil & gas industry).
- Experienced in the use of ArcGIS software.
- Good knowledge of English language (verbal and written).
