The
main content of the dentist’s activity includes the therapeutic and surgical
treatment of patients with teeth, jaws, tongue, gums and oral mucosa, splinting
fractures of the jaws, the manufacture of dental, jaw and facial prostheses.
There are several specializations in dentistry: dental therapists, dental
surgeons, dental prosthetists and dental orthodontists. The task of the
dentist-therapist is to treat diseased teeth, as well as diseases of the gums,
salivary glands, oral mucosa and lips. The functions of a dentist-surgeon are
to remove diseased teeth, stones, cleaning salivary ducts, tumors, opening
ulcers in the mouth, correcting various defects of the jaws, lips, nose. The
tasks of the dentist-prosthetist consist in the manufacture of removable and
non-removable prostheses. The orthodontist must correct the bite, change the
direction of growth of individual teeth, and achieve evenness of the dentition.
