Director of the Gender Economics Research Center

Narxoz University announces a new vacant position in the capacity of Director of the Gender Economics Research Center

·         Narxoz University, jointly with the Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan, within the framework of theOpen Economy Initiative, announces the opening of a vacancy for the position of theadministrative and scientific Director of the first center for research in gender economics in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

·         The Director will work on sustainability and expansion of the сenter, lead the process of researchconduction by young researchers in the field of gender economics, and work on promoting and popularizing the course on gender economics among universities of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

·         This position implies full-time employment in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

·        ·         Requirements for applicants:

·         • PhD degree in social sciences and/or humanities (for example, PhD in Economics, Development Economics, Gender Studies, Development Studies) of foreign universities;

·         • Research experience (at least 5 years);

·         • Experience in team management and project management;

·         • High interest in issues of gender economics, gender inequality, gender asymmetry;

·         • Fluency in English and Russian (Advanced / Proficient);

·         • Knowledge of Kazakh and/or other Turkic languages of the Central Asian region is desirable;

·         • Ability to travel on business trips;

·         • Adherence to the values of an open society and the principles of open discussion of socially significant issues.

·         Dates of the competition:

·         The deadline for submission of applications is May 15^th, 2019 (23:59 Astana time). Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

·         Note: Narxoz University, in consultation with the Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan, at its discretion may make minor changes in the timing of the competition.

·         The application must include:

·         1. Resume / CV (no more than 2 pages, in English or Russian, in PDF format);

·         2. Motivation letter answering the question “Why am I interested in this position?” (No more than 500 words, in English or Russian, in PDF format);

·         3. Certificates of English proficiency tests (IELTS / TOEFL / CEFR in PDF format) or diploma from a university, where the language of instruction was English;

·         4. Copy of ID / passport (in PDF format);

·         5. A sample of your own full research or publication (in PDF format).

·         If necessary, the organizers reserve the right to request additional information from candidates relevant to participation in the competition.
